Major airline announces service from New York and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood to Port of Spain

Port of Spain, Trinidad – October 1, 2013. New York's hometown airline and low-cost carrier JetBlue recently announced the start of daily nonstop service from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Piarco International Airport (POS) in Port of Spain on February 24, 2014 and from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood (FLL) to Port of Spain on May 1, 2014.  

"We are thrilled that JetBlue has added Port of Spain to its growing list of cities that will be offering airlift," said Yolande Selman, TDC CEO (Ag). "The largest population of Trinbagonians in the U.S. live in New York and Florida, and we are pleased that the new service will provide visitors and returning nationals with a low cost option to travel to Port of Spain for leisure, business or to visit friends and family."

JetBlue's flights from New York and Fort Lauderdale to Port of Spain will be operated by its Airbus A320 fleet with seating for 150 passengers.  Flights feature complimentary inflight entertainment and brand-name snacks and drinks, leather seating, more legroom in coach than any U.S. carrier and award-winning service.??Service from New York begins just in time for Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival, the largest cultural festival in the Caribbean.  Visitors can travel to the dual-island nation and play like a local while taking in the heart-pounding rhythms and jaw-dropping costumes on the streets of Port of Spain.  Fort Lauderdale airlift arrives just in time for summer, allowing Floridians the opportunity to take a quick summer escape to the twin islands.  Whether looking for adventure in Trinidad or to unwind on world-renowned beaches in Tobago, a 20-minute flight away, the islands known for friendliness look forward to welcoming new visitors and returning citizens alike.
